Objectives of the Cell: The Entrepreneurship and Development Cell (EDC) aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship by equipping students and professionals with the necessary skills, resources, and guidance to transform their ideas into viable ventures. Its primary objectives include nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset, offering mentorship and incubation support, facilitating networking opportunities with industry experts and investors, and providing practical learning through workshops, competitions, and internships. By encouraging creativity, self-reliance, and leadership, the EDC seeks to create job opportunities, drive regional economic development, and promote social entrepreneurship, contributing to the overall development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Introduction: The EDC is an initiative designed to inspire and cultivate entrepreneurial talent within an educational institution or organization. Its core mission is to create a supportive environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset. The EDC provides a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to learn about various aspects of starting and running a business, including idea generation, business planning, marketing, finance, and legal requirements.

The EDC cell typically organizes workshops, seminars, mentorship programs, and startup competitions, offering participants opportunities to interact with successful entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investors. It also often collaborates with incubators and accelerators to provide incubation facilities, seed funding, and networking opportunities.

The EDC cell is a dedicated platform aimed at nurturing future business leaders and innovators. It provides MBA students with the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career path by offering practical knowledge, industry insights, and hands-on experience. The EDC equips students with essential skills such as business strategy, financial management, marketing, and leadership, all of which are critical for launching and managing successful ventures.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL ACTIVITIES INNOVENTURE-2024


INNOVENTURE was held for 1st Semester MBA students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills by proposing sustainable business ideas. Conducted section-wise on 4th March, 15th March, and 3rd April 2024, students presented diverse ventures, with a special focus on supporting agribusiness and rural economy. Outstanding teams were recognized for their innovative proposals.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL COMPETITION-2024


The Entrepreneurship Development Cell competition held on 17th May 2024 featured an intense case study challenge that tested students' analytical skills. Teams tackled complex, real-world scenarios related to their startup ideas, requiring strategic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. The event highlighted their business acumen and ability to transform challenges into opportunities, showcasing the true spirit of entrepreneurship.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell competition held on 11th November 2023 featured an Product Launch that tested students' analytical skills. Teams tackled complex, real-world scenarios related to their startup ideas, requiring strategic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. The event highlighted their business acumen and ability to transform challenges into opportunities, showcasing the true spirit of entrepreneurship.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL-2022


Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Community Institute of Management Studies (CIMS) organized a Product Launch event for MBA students on 9th March 2022 to stimulate their creativity and intellectuality, to develop technical presentation skills, collaboration and team-building.

This event has provided the students an opportunity to launch unique product of their choice in the market.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Community Institute of Management Studies (CIMS) organized a Product Launch event for MBA students on 11th November 2021 to stimulate their creativity and intellectuality, to develop technical presentation skills, collaboration and team-building.

This event has provided the students an opportunity to launch unique product of their choice in the market.

BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION- 26TH AUGUST 2019


The Business Plan Competition, held on 26th August 2019, offered 2nd semester MBA students a platform to showcase their startup ideas and business plans. Dr. Suresh Babu B S, Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship, guided the students through the process, covering market research, financial projections, marketing strategies, and operational planning. Participants presented their innovative business plans to a panel of judges, receiving feedback and insights on creating viable and sustainable business models. The competition encouraged students to refine their strategies, network with industry professionals, and gain practical experience in pitching their ideas.

INDUSTRY EXPERT TALKS


Orientation program was held for 3rd Sem Finance students about importance of NISM certificate program and career opportunities in Finance sector on 28th Feb 2023 at CIMS Campus.

Mr. Pandurang Patkar, Founder & Director BFSI learning Academy, interacted and clarified all the doubts of the students about Finance Career opportunities available after the Certification program.

SEMINAR:


Seminar on "Investors Education and Awareness Programme" Sponsored By HDFC Mutual Fund was organised on 5th May 2023 for all 2nd Year MBA students.

Resource Person: Soumya Anand with two decades work experience in Mutual Fund and Financial Services Industry.

The Seminar was mainly focused on the Investors Education and Awareness Programme on Mutual Funds and its importance. The resource person provided a simple explanation to the working of capital market and the investment opportunities involved in it.

ALUMNI INDUSTRY INTERACTION PROGRAMME


The Alumni Industry Interaction Programme, an IQAC initiative, was held on 18th August 2023, featuring Ms. Sha Nagma, an alumna from the 2015-17 batch. The session, focused on "Employment Preparation," was organized for 2nd and 4th semester MBA students.

Ms. Nagma shared her experiences and challenges in securing employment after completing her post-graduation. She discussed the strategies and preparations that contributed to her career growth and advised students to analyse and strengthen their skill sets. Mrs. Nagma Rafeeq, CEO of NR Impels, was invited to inspire students and encourage them to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path.

GUEST LECTURE


A Guest Lecture was organised on 01st September 2023 for all MBA students at CIMS Auditorium on topic " Career Opportunities for Freshers at Mutual Fund Industry".

Mr. Pradeep A M, Zonal HR - South Zone, NJ Invest India Pvt Ltd was the Guest speaker for the day. This informative guest lecture made the students aware of Mutual funds & career prospects in the Mutual fund industry.

Mr. Pradeep interacted with the students and explained to them about savings and mutual funds’ investments for profit. He explained the importance and need to invest in mutual funds early to get the maximum returns. Mr. Pradeep also explained how to build a career in mutual funds.


National Start Up Day Celebration:


January 16 is celebrated as National Startup Day to recognize and celebrate the growth and contributions of the startup community. This day has been marked as the foundation day of Startup India. Startups are crucial for the Indian economy, propelling GDP growth and driving innovation.

In this regard, a Guest lecture was scheduled on 16th Jan 2024 to all 1st sem MBA students at CIMS Campus. Special guest Mr. Vikas Subramani, Partner Bengaluru Cafe, Masters in Computer Engineering at University of Massachusetts addressed the students and shared his startup experience and also gave a motivational speech for Youngster about "How to be a successful Entrepreneur".
