INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (IC), also known as the Anti Sexual Harassment Cell, is constituted as per the UGC Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions Regulations, 2015. The IC ensures a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment, organizes gender sensitization activities, takes disciplinary actions, and provides a safe environment for all women (students and employees) at CIMS.

Objectives

  • To comply with the Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
  • To uphold women’s right to protection against sexual harassment.
  • To create a permanent mechanism for the prevention, prohibition, and redressal of sexual harassment at CIMS.
  • To promote a social, physical, and psychological environment that deters acts of sexual harassment.

Mechanism

The CIMS Internal Complaints Committee consists of a presiding officer, faculty, administrative staff, NGO representatives, and student representatives. Written complaints may be addressed to the chairman, or emailed to cimsgrievance@gmail.com.

Redressal Procedure

The committee addresses grievances regarding harassment, ensuring a fair and timely process. Complaints can be filed either orally or in writing. Oral complaints will be documented by the counselor and verified by the complainant.

  • The complainant is ensured full confidentiality throughout the process.
  • The chairperson convenes a meeting within a week of receiving the complaint.
  • If the complainant wishes for a warning, the alleged offender is called, heard, and may be warned.
  • If further action is requested, a detailed inquiry is conducted, and penalties may be recommended based on the findings.

Penalties

Penalties may range from minor to major, depending on the nature of the offense, and are enforced in accordance with the Discipline Appeal Rules and Maintenance of Discipline guidelines for students and employees on campus.
